The Sabra and Shatila Refugee Camps Massacres took place between 16
to 18 September 1982. These massacres are considered the bloodiest
single atrocity committed against the Palestinian people in living
history. Similar in magnitude to the 11 September 2001 attacks on the
US, which left close to 3000 innocent people dead, according to the
International Committee of the Red Cross, more than 2,750 Palestinian
men, women and children were massacred in the Sabra and Shatila camps
in Beirut while the city was occupied by the Israeli army. The
principal war criminal bearing legal responsibility for these
massacres is then Israeli Minister of Defense, General Ariel Sharon -
the perpetrator of the Kibya Massacre nearly thirty years earlier.
Even Israel's Kahan Commission could not hide the fact that Ariel
Sharon was "personally responsible" for the Sabra and Shatila
massacres. Ariel Sharon is Israel's former prime minister.
The whole world condemned the U.S. and Israeli war that has rendered
nearly one-quarter of Lebanon's entire population, nearly 1 million
people, refugees in their home country. The US backed Israeli
government, has undertaken yet another criminal and illegal war
destroying the infrastructure of a nation, and massacring over 1100
civilians including women and children. The aftermath of this
genocidal war has brought us UNSC resolution 1701 which does little
more than aim to disarm the Lebanese resistance through diplomacy
after the Israeli war machine failed to do so militarily. 1701 is
meant to enforce UN resolution 1559 and does nothing to hold Israel
accountable for its criminal actions in Lebanon or Palestine.
In Palestine, the ongoing daily crimes against humanity perpetrated
against the entirety of the Palestinian population by one of the most
powerful and most ruthless military machines that history has scene
continues without pause. Since their illegal displacement in 1948,
nearly 7 million refugees continue to live in the most horrific
conditions while the Zionist entity continues and in fact renews its
ongoing project to end the quest for Palestinian liberation, justice
and return of the refugees. We see this in the daily bombardment of
all parts of Palestine from Rafah to Jenin, through the continued
military assassinations and kidnappings of Palestinian leadership
both elected and popular leadership, though the completion of the
apartheid wall, through the ongoing annexation of Jerusalem ... and the
list goes on and on.
Let us not forget the ongoing illegal occupations of Iraq and
Afghanistan; resulting from wars that were sold under false pretenses
to begin with. These wars were as the ensuing occupations continue
to be illegal and baseless. We can not and will not allow the US and
Israeli war machine to vilify, target, bomb and murder the civilian
population of any Arab, Muslim, Latino or any other nation that
posses natural resources; or that stand in the way of regional domination or global hegemony.
Join this community demonstration and support our demands for Justice
from Palestine to Lebanon, Iraq and everywhere. We demand that
Israel and the United States be held accountable for their renewed
war crimes against the people of Lebanon during the month long war
earlier this year. All responsible officials and officers in this
war must be brought to justice before the international courts of
justice for any level of participation. The participating war
criminals in the Sabra and Shatila massacres must also be brought to
justice by trial and rightful prosecution before for the 24 year
standing murder of over 3000 civilians. The Zionist entity must
immediately and unconditionally end its occupation of all Arab lands
starting with historical Palestine and all Palestinian refugees and
exiles must be given the right to exercise their inalienable
individual and collective right to return.
JUSTICE FOR PALESTINE, LEBANON!
RIGHT OF RETURN FOR ALL REFUGEES AND EXILES!
US OUT OF IRAQ, AFGHANISTAN, HAITI AND EVERYWHERE NOW!
JUSTICE FOR IMMIGRANT COMMUNITIES AND COMMUNITIES OF COLOR IN THE
US!
Endorsers list in formation.
